Harkham Wines
Hunter Valley, Australia
"Through a minimalist approach to winemaking we are able to achieve wines that are pure and honest; true representations of nature." - Harkham Family
The Harkham family were amongst the first pioneers of Israel's wine region, Zichron Yackov in 1951. They lived there for 16 years, making natural food and wine using fresh produce and grapes they had grown themselves. In 2005, to return to their roots, Terry, Efrem and Richard Harkham bought Windarra Estate and winery in the Hunter Valley.
Their winery is now a family-run business, in which they prefer to grow few but high-quality fruits. The vineyard is farmed using organic methods although part of the grapes is sourced from other vineyard partners with whom they work closely with to ensure that they meet Harkham’s standards. After the fruits have been carefully selected, there is only minimal intervention during the winemaking process to ensure that the flavours of the Hunter Valley are clearly expressed and that the wine is made from 100% naturally fermented grape juice.
